Remembering our Mother and Grandmother

Today we gather to honor her life, A loving mother and grandmother, devoted wife. A woman of strength, determination, and grace, Whose memory time can never erase. She dreamed great dreams for her daughters and son, Believing each child could become someone. Her faith in her children never would bend; She believed in their future from beginning to end. She worked tirelessly to provide and to care, Meeting life's challenges with courage rare. Buying and selling, always finding a way, Building opportunities day after day. With wisdom and vision, she planned ahead, Investing in rental homes and ensuring her family was fed. Through willing hands and a heart so true, She did what she felt she was called to do. She took great pride in a home kept neat, Where love and hard work would always meet. Her flowers blossomed beneath the sun’s warm glow, Alongside lettuce, spinach, and okra she'd grow. She loved her sports with enthusiasm bright; Cricket and soccer brought her delight. Basketball games she enjoyed as well, Cheering with her children and stories to tell. As a grandmother, she brought joy and cheer, Always happiest when her grandchildren were near. With laughter and wisdom she filled every room; Her presence could brighten away any gloom. She often joked with a smile on her face, Sharing her thoughts with humor and grace. "Don't stay on the shelf," she'd lovingly say, Hoping her grandchildren would find happiness one day. She wished for each one a companion kind, A loving partner with a caring mind. Her words were simple, yet spoken with care, A reflection of the love she was eager to share. Though blindness eventually took away her sight, Her spirit remained vibrant, her heart shining bright. She'd feel our arms and laughingly say, "Softness won't do—build muscles each day!" Her favorite sayings still echo today, Treasured words that never fade away. When asked how she was, she'd warmly declare, "I'm hanging in there, I'm hanging in there." And when asked what she had eaten that day, Her playful response would often convey: "I had stone soup," she'd jokingly say, Bringing laughter and smiles along the way. Her prayers for her family flowed from her heart, A blessing she lovingly chose to impart: "Bless all my children, my grandchildren too, And my great-grandchild—I pray for all of you." She taught us that life brings burdens to bear, And lessons that each of us learn and share. "All of us have a price to pay," Was wisdom she offered along life's way. Today we mourn, but we celebrate too, The remarkable woman we were blessed to know. Her love, her laughter, her faith, and care Will live in our hearts forever there. Though we can no longer see her face, Her memory remains in every place. And while we grieve and say goodbye, Her legacy lives and will never die. Rest peacefully, Mother and Grandmother dear; Your love remains forever near. Until we meet again someday, Your memory will guide us on our way. Forever loved, forever ← Back to Home
